Originally a fishing village, in recent years
Villasimius has become a very important tourist destination
in the South of Sardinia. The surrounding mountains, the
sea and scattered islets, the beaches and the crystalline
waters make this spot a very picturesque place indeed. The
small town offers a vast choice of hotels, restaurants,
bars and shops and the colourful and lively nightlife make
it popular with the younger generations as well. Most facilities
in this corner of Sardinia are geared around the summer
season, however the area is nonetheless charming in the
winter months.
Not far from the town there is a recently built tourist
harbour with many facilities from where to explore the coastline
and its natural hidden beauties.
Villasimius is about 50 minutes drive from Cagliari, the
scenic route can make the journey very enjoyable but beware
of traffic at the height of summer.
