Important centre and chief town of the Sarrabus
region, Muravera is connected with Cagliari and the whole
of Sardinia by national route S.S. 125 (Orientale Sarda);
it is set on a river valley surrounded by a group of hills
delimiting the marsh area including the ponds of Ferraxi,
Colostrai, Salinas and San Giovanni.
Muravera is well known all over island for its citrus fruit
for which there is a festival every year with display stalls
and a variety of shows, which takes place at the end of
March. Muravera is also famous for its beautiful unspoilt
beaches like San Giovanni Beach and Torre Salinas that can
be reached by driving South on national route SS 125 (Orientale
Sarda): San Giovanni Beach is 4.2 km from the town, continuing
to drive South at km 56 there is the exit leading to Torre
Salinas Beach. Cristolaxeddu Beach and Colostrai Beach are
10 km away from Muravera. North from Capo Ferrato there
is Ferraxi Beach , which prides itself for the white sand
and the transparency of the sea.
