Baia Chia, in the South of Sardinia, is a
fantastic seaside spot. The white sandy beaches, the high
sand dunes and the crystalline water have a Caribbean feel.
It is only the Mediterranean vegetation and in particular
the juniper trees, typical of this region, that remind you
this fantastic island is in the Med. Facing the bay, the
islet of “Su Giudeu” can be reached by paddling
across from the beach. Cala Cipolla, the bay next to Baia
Chia, is only accessible on foot, the picturesque beach
and the cliff make the walk certainly worth while. Driving
a few kilometres in the direction of Teulada, the beach
of Tuerredda must be visited, there you can hire a rubber
dinghy and have a fantastic excursion along the coastline
to Capo Teulada. Chia, like many other holiday destinations
with the economy centred around tourism is rather quiet
during winter and comes to life in the summer months. There
is a good selection of restaurants, bars and hotels in the
area. The nightlife is very lively with some good nightclubs,
which makes it a popular destination with young people as
well.
Thanks to the way the wind blows down South, Chia is the
perfect spot for surfers and windsurfers, who come all year
round.
